DNA analysis required and optional files
| Like the generation of a system parameters set, a DNA analysis in MaSTR requires two file types: a Signal file and a Profile file. For detailed information about the contents of each file type and their required formats, see System Parameter required and optional files. |
At a minimum, a DNA analysis in MaSTR requires the following Signal file and Profile file:
• (Analysis) Signal file: An Analysis Signal file is the DNA mixture file that is being analyzed. You analyze an Analysis Signal file using your lab’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which typically include filtering stutter.
• Person of Interest (POI) Profile file: The profile or profiles that the job is analyzing, with each profile being an individual file. Multiple profiles can be useful when there is a chance that a different individual such as another POI or even the victim might have contributed to the mixture that is being analyzed. A POI Profile file can contain only a single profile, but you can load multiple POI files for the analysis.
Optionally, you can load a Known Contributor Profile file, which is a profile that is assumed to be in the analysis mixture. A Known Contributor Profile file can contain only a single profile, but you can load multiple Known Contributor Profile files for the analysis.
| Collectively, a Person of Interest Profile file and a Known Contributor Profile file are referred to as Analysis Profile files. |
