To delete an analysis template
The options that are available for deleting an analysis template differ based on whether the template has been used in an DNA analysis.
If the template has been used in a DNA analysis, then a single Delete option (referred to as a “Soft” delete) is available. This option results in the removal of the template from the MaSTR UI, but not from the MaSTR database. An Admin user can use the Restore function that is available through the Audit trail to restore the deleted template to the MaSTR UI.
If the analysis template has not been used in a DNA analysis, then two options are available for deleting the set:
Permanently Delete: Referred to as a “Hard” delete. Permanently removes the analysis template from the MaSTR database. The component cannot be recovered.
Delete: Referred to as a “Soft” delete. Removes the analysis template from the MaSTR UI, but not from the MaSTR database. An Admin user can use the Restore function that is available through the Audit trail to restore the deleted template to the MaSTR UI.
1. On the MaSTR main menu, click Templates.
The Analysis Template page opens.
2. On the Analysis Template page, click the name of the analysis template.
The Analysis Template Information page opens.
3. In the left section of the Analysis Template Information page, click Delete.
The Delete Analysis Template page opens.
If the template has not been used in a DNA analysis, then a single Delete option is available. Go to Step 4.
If the template has been used in a DNA analysis, then two options are available for deleting the template: Permanently Delete and Delete. Go to Step 5.
4. Click Delete.
The template is deleted from the MaSTR database. The Delete Template page closes and you return to the Analysis Template page. The template is no longer listed as an entry on the page.
5. Click Permanently Delete or Delete.
If you click Permanently Delete, then a message opens indicating that the deletion is permanent and asking you if you want to continue. After you click OK in the message, the message closes, and the analysis template is permanently deleted from the MaSTR database – it cannot be recovered. The Delete Analysis Template page closes and you return to the Analysis Template page. The template is no longer listed as an entry on the page.
If you click Delete, then the template is deleted from the MaSTR UI but not from the MaSTR database. The Delete Analysis Template page closes and you return to the Analysis Template page. The template is no longer listed as an entry on the page. An Admin user can use the Restore function that is available through the Audit trail to restore the deleted template to the MaSTR UI.
