To download and edit a panel
1. On the MaSTR main menu, click Panel.
The Panel page opens.
2. On the Panel page, click the name of the panel that you are editing.
The Panel Information page opens.
3. In the left section of the Panel Information page, click Download.
The selected panel file is immediately downloaded to the Downloads directory in *.json format on the MaSTR Windows client.
4. Edit the downloaded panel file, where editing includes the following actions:
Required action: Editing the file name in the file itself. You must edit the file name in the “name”: field, which is the last field in the file, and the name must be unique.

The name cannot be the name of any other panel that is currently loaded in the MaSTR database and it cannot be the name of a panel that was used in an analysis and then permanently deleted from the MaSTR database.
Optional actions:
Adding another marker to the panel.
Editing the information for an existing marker in the panel such as the number of nucleotide repeats, the AT, and enabling/disabling the marker.
Adding or deleting alleles for a marker in the panel.
5. In the file editing application, use the Save As command to save the file as a new file.
Note the following when you use the Save As command:
The current file name that is displayed in the File Name field always includes the file *.json format indicator, for example, Identifier_Modified.json. You must leave the file format in the name.

For easy traceability, you should name the panel exactly as you entered the name in the “name”: field for the file.
The Save As type field displays Text Documents (*.txt) and you cannot change this.
6. On the Panel page, click Upload Panels.
The Panel Upload page opens.
7. Click Upload.
The File Upload dialog box opens. The file type is set to All Supported Types (*.xml, *.json).
8. Optionally, to filter the files that are displayed for uploading, select the single file type of *.json.
9. In the File Upload dialog box, scroll to and select the edited panel file, and then click Open.
The File Upload dialog box closes, and the selected file is displayed in the Panel field. The name that is displayed is the name that you entered in the “name”: field.
10. Click Submit.
The Panel Upload page closes. The Panel page opens. The page lists the newly added panel as the first entry on the page.
