Uploading a New Panel to the MaSTR Database
Another option for adding a new panel to the MaSTR database is to upload a panel to the database. The panel can be either a new panel that was created in a text editor and then uploaded to the database, or the panel can be a standard xml-formatted file that was exported from GeneMarkerHID or another STR analysis software application and then uploaded to the MaSTR database.
If you use a text editor to create the panel, note the following:
You can use a third-party application such as Excel or a third-party text editor such as Notepad to create the file.
The file format must be a java script object notation (*.json) format.
You must enter a unique name in the “name”: field, which is the last field in the file. The name cannot be the name of any other panel that is currently loaded in the MaSTR database and it cannot the name of any panel that was used in an analysis and then permanently deleted from the MaSTR database.

For easy traceability and version tracking, when you name and save the file, you should name the file exactly as you entered the name in the “name”: field.
If you are uploading a standard xml-formatted file that was exported from GeneMarkerHID or another STR analysis software application, then the panel name and version number must be unique to the MaSTR database.
