To add a new user
When you add a new user, you must specify the login credentials (username and password) for the user. After you add a user, you then must assign at least one role to the user that grants, at a minimum, Read permissions to the user, and then you can save the user to the MaSTR database. If you assign more than one role to a user, then the user’s permissions are the sum total of all the granted permissions. A new user is always added with an Active status.
1. Open and log in to MaSTR.
2. On the User dropdown menu, click User Management.
The User Management page opens.
3. At the top of the Users section, Click Add User.
The User Add page opens.
4. Enter the information for the new user.
• Click in the Username field, and then enter the login name for the user.
• In the Password field, enter the login password for the user.
| The password has a minimum 6 character requirement and cannot have any spaces; however, ideally, you should ensure that the password adheres to any password standards that your organization requires such as the number of uppercase or special characters, and so on. |
5. In the Confirm Password field, enter the user password again, exactly as you entered it in the Password field.
6. Click Create.
The User Roles page opens. The left side of the page shows the username of the newly added user and the date/time that the user was added. The right side of the page shows all the available roles that you can assign to the user.
7. Select the role or roles that you are assigning to the user (at a minimum, one role must grant Read permissions to the user), and then click Save.
| Remember, if you assign more than one role to a user, then the permissions that are granted are the sum total of all the permissions. This means that if you assign a role to the user that denies a permission such as uploading an analysis template, but then you also assign a role to the user that grants this permission, the user can upload analysis templates. |
The User Roles page closes. The User Management page opens. The user is displayed as the first entry in the Users list on the page.
